Serta Mattress And User Opinions

In this mattress review, we are going to present Serta, one of the top notch mattress manufacturers. Since Serta makes good quality products for more than 70 years, we think it's natural to have a specific post about the products this brand has to offer.

Many satisfied customers will say that this company that produces the best mattresses, even if their competition is using memory foam mattresses for quite a while now. How is it possible that due to all the innovation and constant battle on the market Serta manages to stay in business - and stay on the high ground. Lets find that out.

The reason Serta is among Simmons, Spring Air and Sealy is a quality construction and excellent materials. I bet some of you here already have Serta mattress, and if you happen to stay in a hotel, check out what are you sleeping on, it may well be a Serta. And if there's entire line of products in hotels worldwide...this is not a coincidence, it is a result of research and hard work of the entire company.

One thing that Serta relies on greatly is a StabL-Base double beam foundation. This is a wooden frame that holds the entire spring system. The frame is made out of wood without any knots, quality comes first and there is no place for any mistakes when it comes to that. This ensures you will have a safe sleep and feel comfortable, without any worries when it comes to bed foundation.

Besides the wooden structure, Serta mattress coil has a flame resistant - FireBlocker. This helps prevent fire in case someone drops a cigarette on the bed or a candle drops on top of the bed. This can happen, it's something you have to think about and the smart people take every precaution when it comes to fire and highly flammable materials. This is why Serta makes fireproof products as well.

Lets get back to that spring system a bit. The most popular type of mattress is still an innerspring, and this is why Serta keeps making them - people feel most comfortable sleeping on them. To deepen this Serta mattress review a bit, lets say that there are 3 different types of innerspring Serta systems.

Pocket springs, continuous coil and hourglass shaped springs.

Pocket springs are each in their own pocket and are not connected with other springs. This makes it possible for one person to move while the other one will not feel any movement.

Continuous coil springs are interlinked and distribute the movement to the entire sleeping surface. This means that you are going to feel when someone is moving on the other side of the bed. The advantage of continuous coil mattresses is that they are more durable and last longer.

Hourglass shaped springs are linked with each other but are nit as durable as continuous coil springs.

You may wonder: Why should I use innerspring when I can use memory foam? Well, the thing is, more than few people still want an innerspring and people will gladly pay $900 for a innerspring model in comparison to a memory foam.

This doesn't mean that Serta is not producing memory foam mattresses. They do, and they have most affordable ones to offer. We can't say it's better then the one from their competition, but if you really want affordable memory foam mattress - go with one of Serta's models. They still need some improvements when it comes to production and comfort levels, at least this is something we concluded when talking to some people, reading reviews online and reading forum posts. And at last, it's the same thing you can read in the comments on this blog.

If you love innerspring mattresses, then we hope this mattress review helped you to see that a right choice is Serta. If you prefer memory foam, then I suggest you read another review.

PS: I love this commercial, check it out!

My Serta Mattress was a BIG waste of money. It gave way after less than a year.

same here - our Serta has two indentations where we sleep. My wife is 120 lbs, Im 170 - not the kind of weight that should do this. Junk - will never buy this brand again.

We bought a Vera Wang Crystal and had trouble right from the start of delivery. I contacted them and it took over a month to have another "new" bed sent to our home. Don't forget,YOU pay for the delivery each time. This "new" bed has a ridge running down one side. It is thicker than the other. My side,I sink into every night and I've only had it ten nights! It makes a noise EVERY time we move. Lack of quality control, loud, lousy, and inexcusable for a $1000 price tag! I still am waiting for them to call me back.

My wife and I have recently purchased a Serta Moonrise mattress. After one week the mattress had a deep sink hole on the wifes side...she's 5'7" and weighs 145 lbs. as well as on my side...I'm 6'3" and 185 lbs. The holes on both sides were deep enough for the free replacement...which we received from the store we bought it from. They wasn't to happy to have to replace it for some reason. Now we are 2 weeks into the new replacement mattress...that is the same Serta Moonrise, and it is doing the same thing. The store is going to have to replace this one. I would not recommend Serta. We had a Lady Americana that we paid less for and it lasted 7 years...Serta hasn't lasted a month. And yes...the holes are over 1.5 inches deep. Do Not Recommend!!

If you want to sleep good don't buy a Serta.

I recently purchased a Serta mattress and have not had a good night sleep since. The body impressions after the first week of sleeping on the mattress were 3/4 inch after leaving all bedding off for the three hours as required to file a warranty claim. Unfortunately the body impression wasn't the minimum 1.5 inches required for the claim to be filled. A month in the body impressions right after sleeping reached over 3 inches but unfortunately bounced back to around 1 inch after three hours. I called both the store where I purchased and Serta directly by both I was told that it was the other person's problem and there was nothing they could do. Also I was hung up on by a Serta Representative and after calling back the next day to talk to her manager was still told there was nothing that could be done and that her customer service was the standard of the company. "We make the best mattresses".... I don't think so.

I am using Cal king and like it too much. In 2008, I had severe back pain problem, and needed something that would help. My friend suggested me Tempur-Pedic, but to be frank the situation gone worst. So after hearing from many people's recommendations I choose upon Cal king. I really like it!

I have a Serta. It was comfortable for the first 6 months or so, then began developing twin valleys - one for me, one for my husband. The sales rep assures me this is normal. I often sleep on the floor these days. It was a very expensive piece of junk.

If you're here complaining about a "$1,000" mattress, please refrain from posting. A thousand bucks for a mattress is far from top of the line and you get what you pay for.

My Serta mattress is the biggest waste of money ever!!!!! They replaced it because of the 1.5" twin holes and after 3 wks the new mattress is WORSE than the devective one and they won't replace cause it has 'only 1.25" valley!!! They want to wait 6 months till our backs are broken! OH YA and don't forget we pay deliver, $150 each time! So do I waste more money??? I HATE SERTA!

We purchased the serta illumination. my 160 lb husband and 120 lb self made body indentations within 6 months. Serta replaced it. Within 6 months on the replacement mattress we were making ditches as well. Serta refused to replace it again.

Same problem here...purchased the mattress and in a couple of months have these 2 indents. They ONLY MEASURE 1 INCH so no free replacement. Very disapointed and will certainly not buy another Serta. It is now 2 years old and so uncomfortable we will be replacing it shortly.

I replaced my sleep number mattress ( big expensive air mattress w/ pressure gauge with a Latex bed, Vera Wang made by Serta. Wow! most awesome nights sleep ever! and no bouncing when my wife moves. A big thumbs up!

Some people just don't get it! Regardless of manufacturer your mattress will show body impressions. No point in slamming Serta when all (yes, all) the other mattresses out there will do the same thing. Now here's the best advice from a guy who has been in the business for 17 years: Find a mattress that is comfortable that has the fewest upholstery layers as possible. The thick mattresses have multiple upholstery layers and will show deeper body impressions. Better yet; get a Serta latex mattress that is no thicker than 13 inches with NO coils. Your troubles will be over.

Spent a ton on a Serta Vera Wang, and have had the same problem from the first night, SAG! Am trying to return it. Bad mattress, hefty price!

DONT BUY SERTA OURS CRATERED IN 1 MONTH MY HUSBAND HAS STNOSIS AND A RECENT HIP REPLACEMENT HE IS SUFFERING REALLY BAD I CALLED SERTA AND WILL HAVE TO PAY 35 DOLLARS FOR SOMEONE TO COME CHECK IT OUT AND IT HAS TO HAVE A 1 1/2 INCH INDENTION VISIBLE TO THE EYE BEFORE THEY WILL HONOR THE WARRANTY. WELL IT IS ABOUT 5 INCHES DEEP WHEN MY HUSBAND IS LYING ON IT BUT PROBABLY NOT WHEN LOOKING AT IT WITH THE NAKED EYE. EVEN SO WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO SEND IT BACK AND GET A ANOTHER ONE. THATS LIKE PURCHASING THE MATTRESS ALL OVER AGAIN. I DONT CARE WHAT THE OTHER POST SAID ABOUT COMPLAINING I ONLY WISHED I'D SEEN THIS SITE FIRST. IT ONLY FAIR TO TRY AND SAVE OTHERS FROM THIS HARDSHIP IT IS WAY TOO MUCH MONEY TO INVEST IN A PIECE OF JUNK

To the person who has supposedly been in the mattress business for the past 17 years, allow me to correct your erroneous comment.

While I've only been selling mattresses for the past 6 years, I have learned a bit more about mattresses than most of the sales people out there.

First, a mattress with a 1 1/2" depression while not laying on the mattress is considered a defect by all of the reputable brands. Those aren't just "body impressions." Body impressions should only be about 1/2" or 3/4" at most.

Second, recommending that people purchase a mattress that has less pressure-relieving material, ie. a much more firm mattress with very little foam, is a recipe for putting the majority of the population on a mattress that is too firm for their body type and will result in aches and pains on the joints and in the spine due to a lack of pressure relief.

Take a look at the approach Kingsdown teaches. Every body is different, and each body requires a different level of firmness based on several criteria, but mostly of weight and weight distribution.

Most people sleep on mattresses that are too firm for the body, which causes joint and back pain, as well as the tingling and numbness caused by nerve entrapment.

However, buying a mattress that is too soft results in the hammock effect, in which the body loses its posture. This results in back pain.

I have met some old mattress salespeople who never learned the basics of pressure relief and spinal alignment. To them, the easiest way to sell a mattress is to have the customer tell them what feels best to them in the store, the so-called "Comfort Test." I encourage all mattress salespeople to take that extra step and learn the actual science that is coming out of the various sleep research institutes. You'll sell more mattresses with fewer exchanges.

Last but not least, it is well known in our industry that about 2-4% of all mattresses will develop a defect during their warranty period, usually within the first two years.

We have had our Serta for 5 months. It developed a sag on each side after only 3 months. My husband put a camping mat on his side and it left a blue stain. So that voided the warranty and Serta won't do anything about it. Even though it sags more than the 1/5 inches that is covered under the warranty. Please, please don't ever buy a Serta.

I can not begin with how horrible Serta mattress are and customer service is. I purchased a Vera Wang mattress with in the 1st month I had to have the box spring replaced. Once replaced the bed sagged to the pt no return AND the kicker is the box spring broke again. The store I purchased the mattress from closed so I've had to deal with Serta directly. They are horrible they trying to charge me for delivery which I'm currently fighting. They tried to put me in another Vera Wang - funny part no store in my area sells these pieces of crap. And I can see why. I had to drive 1hr out of my way to try mattress. I hope the one they are sending me is the same (which I don't believe them) I will NEVER EVER purchase a Serta again. Better Business Bureau will hear about my storey.

Purchased a Serta Perfect Day 2/2009, for $2700 on sale! Replaced a 12 year old Sterns & Foster which we gave to a friend who still use it in her guest room and their family says it is great, I wish we had it back!

We have almost 3 inches of depression in my side (5'10" 185) and almost the same in my partners side (5'5" 135) as of now, this is measured by the stupid string test, as is 1 1/4" in depression would be ok!

When I sleep (which of course I don't do well) that "body impression" is over 6 inches, seriously on a $2700 bed with a 20 year warranty!

Have just started the "warranty" process so we will see how that all goes. But of course they don't make this specific name of Perfect Day any longer so I don't even know what they will replace it with.

I have to say I am appalled not only with the breakdown of this "best bed made" but by the horror stories of people with a "stain" on the bed violating the warranty.

Our bed doesn't have this problem but even if it did what has a stain on the bed got to do with crappy manufacturing, why would that void the warranty?

I can't see how I would ever purchase a Serta again given this experience, and if we had not spent so damn much money on this bed I would have just gone out and purchased something else.

But this was a HUGE purchase for us, we have never spent this kind of money on a bed before and I have to fit this even if it means the same thing will happen 2 years from now, very very frustrating how a company of this size can put out this kind of garbage!

before my husband and I bought our Serta mattress, I had a very basic inexpensive mattress that was only a year old and was way more comfortable. My husband wanted something less firm so we bought this bed. Seriously, you don't have to spend the money. It is not worth it. We should have done some research. If you are lucky enough not to have bought a serta- don't. You will be glad you did not buy it.

My wife and I bought a Serta Memory Foam Mattress in 2005. It worked well for about 4 years and now it simply does not offer the support it once had. It was sold with a 10 year warranty and now had indentations of 3/4" where I sleep. It is great in the middle of the bed still like it was new but is simply wore out where we each sleep. We are going to attempt the warranty process with Serta and after reading the posts it would seem we are in for a fight.

I bought a Serta Mattress and is the biggest piece of junk ever. It sags on both sides. Little stains voided the warranty. Go figure. Really bad service. Customer service rep refuse to transfer me to manager. DO NOT BUY, cheaper mattress much better.

Bought a brand new Serta because they "used" to be the best brand we heard. We it sagged out in a couple months and hammocks the back to the point that it is INTOLERABLE. Can't take it back, can't get a rest. I can't belive my $1200 mattress will end up the landfill!!! Wish I read these posts before I bought.. :(

I got a Serta mattress set from a neighbor who was moving. It was in brand new condition. I was so happy because I didn't have a mattress set and I got this one for free. I have had it a long time and it's still in good condition. The label states it's a Perfect Sleeper and I agree. I would like to get another Serta like the one I have now for a family member.

I purchased a Serta Memory Foam Mattress (Vera Wang) in 2009. Within 6 months we had "twin coffins" to sleep in each night. When you got up off the bed the impressions were at least 3 inches deep. The store that we purchased it at says they can't help us. Serta says that because the memory foam returned to 1 inch they won't warranty the mattress. I sleep on the couch now rather than wake up hurting every morning. We paid $1700.00 for JUST the Mattress. I will NEVER be a Serta Customer again.

I am shocked by all the negative comments. I have a King size Serta, Century Collection Luxury Pillow Top that is 18 years old. I was considering replacing it with a new one, which is how I came across this post. I was researching if there was a model that might have been a replacement to the "Century" Collection. There is no sagging in my mattress, as a matter of fact, it is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on, even after 18 years. It came with a 15 year warranty, which I never used, and I believe I paid around $1000.00 for it. Even though it doesn't look to good after being moved around through my 20's and 30's! and the material is brittle around the handles, so you cant use them to pick up the mattress, I think I'll wait to replace it based on all of the negative reviews. I wish more people would put which style mattress they are reviewing. Seems like most of the negative comments are on the Vera Wang model.

I'm already on my 2nd Serta mattress in under 1 year and I'm ready to get rid of this one too! In the cases of both mattresses, after just a few weeks of use, there was a SIGNIFICANT loss of support and then started to develop a visable sag after 1-2 months. I've only had this one since October and I feel like I'm sleeping in a bowl! It's NOT acceptable for a mid grade mattress to perform so poorly. I'm going back to a flip-able mattress!

We bought a $1200 Serta Mattress about three years ago - within a year I had to pay $25 for the landfill to take it!!! Warranty was voided due to a small water stain! The last mattress we had we bought from a guy in a parking lot selling them from the back of his truck... we paid $300 and that mattress lasted us 15 years!! Now have 3/4" plywood on the box spring and a $100 chunk of foam and have been sleeping better for two years now. Serta has lost me as a customer forever!

So...I'd go back to a 'flipable' mattress too...IF I could only find one!! All the stores are loaded with this junk. It's just BAD technology. I just bought a mattress in a box at WALMART $248. for a queen. If it works for a year I'm really going to be WINNING !!! An Airbed is my next option.

I.ve read the reviews and know the scam Serta pulls on us. They send a guy to measure (at your cost) and he lays a string over the hump in the middle (not like suspending a level over the area to show the real sag) So the string just conforms to the hump and Walla! No problem! Your mattress sags so you almost fall off the bed and that guy comes out to "measure" the problem and you see that string, you know you will not be honestly dealt with. I suppose they all do it, but I find Serta to be particularly dishonest

Purchased our Serta Anderson Plush Top Oct. 2011. Within weeks, have body impression on both sides. Turning the mattress every month only makes us sleep on each other's impressions. Impressions are not to be confused with sagging; however, our bodies tend to fall into these impressions and feel like we are sagging. Will wait another month to see if we adjust, but really prefer a rebound mattress. BTW, we have always been Serta consumers. This is a very different bed.

We are on our second I comfort....the first one we bought was a insight no support left within 5 months.....then traded up to a genius I comfort through the warrenty and now we are in the process of getting this Mattress replace as it has no support and the foam has drop over a toonie when you place the string diagonelly across the bed .....DO NOT BUY any I-Comfort beds

After having a mattress for 10 years it was getting a little uncomfortable so we decided to buy a new one....what a mistake. We bought a new Serta Trump set in April 2012 at The Brick. By June there were two big dips....one on each side and a hump in the middle and it was very uncomfortable. A tech was sent out and deemed the mattress defective. Finally in August 2012 we got our second mattress....this time a Serta Perfect Sleeper. Within a few months.....same issue again and very uncomfortable. In December we went away for the winter (3.5 months) and then at the beginning of April I called about the mattress. At this point we had only slept on it for 4 months. After a ton of paperwork a tech was sent out again....different tech...different company since the Brick had been bought out by Leons. He measured it and we didn't hear anything for weeks. In the meantime my husband and I had measured the dipps at 1.5" using a level. Today The Brick phoned and said Serta won't honor our warranty since the dipps only measured 1.25"....after only sleeping on it for 4 months. They said we can get it measured again in 3 months if we want. I am extremely angry and I'm trying to decide what to do next. This was not a cheap mattress....I wish we'd kept the old one....after 10 years it was more comfortable than both the new ones. I will never buy anything at the Brick again or from Serta.

There are flippable mattresses. Hotels use them. Research online for double sided mattresses or next time you stay at a hotel ask where you can buy their mattresses. (If you liked how you slept on them.)

I just purchased a Restonic flippable mattress. There were 5 models in the show room to test. I could not find any other brand or mattress outlet that carried 2 sided mattress's that weren't over $1,000 hotel line.
