A Preliminary DUXIANA Mattress Review

UPDATE 2012

A new post on DUXIANA can be found right here.  Check out what this brand has to offer, as well as special 10% offer we have for you!

Duxiana mattresses are considered to be the best in the world. This is the opinion of many people who tried them and from all others who have knowledge about the production process of these beds. Duxiana beds are focused on pure quality and they are nothing like you've ever seen before. If there is a chance for you to try out a DUX mattress, please do. You will be able to understand why the price of these beds is so high.

There are many different types and styled of these beds, and they are all hand made. The material used for each and every models is of high quality, put together by the experienced experts. These are the reasons DUX beds are so expensive and valuable. You won't find quality like this with Serta, Simmons or any other brand. Duxiana does not use memory foam or latex, all their beds are innerspring, but the knowledge and techniques used are priceless and hard to find. Comparing the brands I stated above with hand made beds is really not something that you can do accurately. The difference in quality is too high. A product made by Duxiana can last through several generations. This is something we can not say for Sealy, Spring Air or Tempur-Pedic. They also make good bedding, but these guys are simply above that. It's a piece of furniture that not everyone can make.

Because of the high quality, all the mattresses are very expensive. Some of them cost as the entire bedroom suite. This is something that astonishes most buyers and they are not even thinking about buying one of these for their home. They are not even interested in a great feature such as mattress pad replacement, which makes these DUX beds even more durable. Price is just too much of a problem for most people, and that is understandable. If you are looking for a cheap bed too, you should not even consider this brand.

All reviews will show you how much this brand is worth. I doubt you will find a harsh, negative bed review when you browse Google.

I want to recommend you one model, DUXMotion, since it is the best adjustable bed around. It has the best functionality, something you can find in the best hospitals only. Several types of this line are even more comfortable, depending on your taste for soft and firm surfaces. Some models have deeper springs, which comforms to the body and give a wonderful feeling.

I think there will be people who will see this and all other Duxiana mattress reviews as a one big hype. And that could be a chance, there were marketing schemes like this before. But once you do try the product that is being hyped about, you know the truth. And when you try one of these beds, you will see why does it cost several times more then the competition products. When you hear few stories from the users who own it for years, you will realize what's it all about. Duxiana is not a Mercedes in the bedding world. It is a shiniest Ferrari you have ever seen so far.

UPDATE:
Since the prices of all beds are falling, you may want to consider buying them at this time. That is if you do not need a credit line to buy one. In case you want a Dux bed, you will have to wait for much better opportunity. These products cost a lot more now, since brands like Sealy and Serta reduced the prices for their quality models.

Thank you for your informative article. I have been reading other articles at http://www.themattresslady.com but didn't see anything about the Duxiana Mattress there. I was wondering if you knew the approx. price of a queen or king size Duxiana Mattress and where they can be bought as I would like to test one out for myself. Thanks!

Price varies from store to store. And it wouldn't be cool to reveal the price, I will leave you to be surprised a bit later.

You can visit Duxiana mattress website at http://www.duxbed.com/ and locate a store near you, then visit it. It is hard to find a dealer online, at least for me. They do not sell these anywhere, just like any top notch product, it is distributed through special network.

After spending time testing the Dux bed in the store, we purchased a queen size 10 years ago for $6,000 because we wanted the best sleep we could get. However, it has been a major disappointment. We both awake with aches and pains and have decided to purchase a new mattress.

This bed was a huge waste of money. After a few years spent adjusting spring capsules, tossing and turning we've decided to give our backs a break and purchase a new a different mattress.

Great bed for 4-5 years then the pain begins. You need a new top pad and maybe springs. These will set you back at least $2000.

We just bought a Dux bed 3 days ago,and I have been in pain since day 1. My back and neck are stiff and I have a headache.
I tried moving the capsule around every night, but same results.

I agree with those who are disappointed with the mattress. We've had our queen size for about 11 years and have been unhappy with it for about 10.5 of them. It's way too soft and bouncy. I bought a memory foam topper at the Relax Your Back store which helped a little. Basically, I hate it and am sorry for the expensive lesson. I don't know what's next: a Sleep Number or something else. If you have back problems or want a firmer mattress, the Dux bed is not for you. It's not what it's quacked up to be.

We bought our bed in 1998 and it has been great BUT the top pad has needed to be replaced twice and they cost about $1500. It need to be replaced again!!!! No help from DUX. At one time I think this company made a good product but now not so

I own a dux bed for 12 years and it is the best bed money can buy!, I recommended it to some of my friends and thy love it as well. Yes I had to replace my top pad after 8 years but that is okay with me because I do need to change my tires on my car every so many miles.

We have had a Dux bed for going on 12+ years. This is clearly the best bed that my wife and I have ever had. Solid support and after all this time still no sags. I ran into this blog while looking for a new topper. The replacment toppers from Dux are a bit overpriced.

However, if you are looking for a new bed you can't go wrong with a Dux. As the saying goes - you get what you pay for.

We bought a Duxiana bed about 10 years ago. We slept on it for 4 years before moving it into a guest room. It had started sagging terribly and was causing me back pain. We've been sleeping on a Temperpedic bed ever since, but recently I have been sleeping on the old Dux bed while we remodel some skylights in our room. I'm having the same back pain return and trouble sleeping.

The Duxiana bed cost us about $7000 and was supposed to last for 20 years. What a rip-off.

I have been using a Duxiana bed for 2 years. I have had chronic back problems for about 20 years.
This bed has saved me numerous visits to the osteopath.
Recently, I have been visiting friends and sleeping in a sealy posturepedic bed. My back pain has returned.
Duxiana beds are wonderful, complete comfortable support. The best.

I bought a queen Dux bed 10 yrs ago and it has not been great. My wife said she was not sleeping well and I am really having back pains now. Its hard to give up on it for the $6,000 so we just tried to ignore it.
I'll not get another one.

I have had a Dux3000 king mattress for about 5 years now. bought is very slightly used and it is by far and away the best bed I've ever slept on. There is really no wear or sagging, and the springs are just great. The reccommended placement of the pads is 110 for your hips, 120 for the shoulders, and 130 for legs. it seems to work perfectly. a good nights sleep every night. I've had a lumbar laminectomy (back surgery) a number of years ago and I never have back pain unless I'm sleeping in another bed. I dread hotel stays even in good hotels because I know I won't get a great night's sleep.
Would I pay full price? Hmmmm. If I could afford it, absolutely.

We've had our 90x200cm beds for 10+ years (pushed together to make a king) and they're ok but recently we bought new (cheaper but good) single beds for our kids and I find them more comfortable to sleep in. However, we also have one 120x200 Dux bed (for guests) and that is an awesome bed. So if you're a rich person with a huge bedroom and you're looking for a huge double bed for you and your partner, go for 2 x 120x200 Dux beds pushed together or separate. That's where Dux comes into its own. ie. their wider beds are great. However if you're in the market for standard-sized 90x200 beds (ie. standard single beds), even if you're putting two together to form a king (which is a good idea and very Scandinavian), don't waste your money on a Dux. There are many cheaper and just as good alternatives. To really appreciate a Dux and get your money's worth, you need to experience the 120cm or wider versions. They are fabulous and that's where Dux ought to focus its marketing.

First of all. They charge too much money for a bed. Second of all, they use springs. I don't care where the metal is from or how much of it they use, its still metal, and it's still under you. Only a matter of time before it bothers you. Besides, doesn't it make more sense to purchase a new bed every year or two and then choose which one is best if you're willing to spend that much money. Then you don't get screwed sleeping on one with metal in it, sucking it up because it cost half as much as your car.

I'm sorry to say that I agree with all the negative comments about Dux beds. For me, the beds that give the best night's sleep and less back pain are firm at the bottom, but have a soft topper. This allows you to sink in, but still be supported. The Dux bed seems to be the exact opposite. The botton section is too soft, and the top "Pascal" and top pad are too firm.

It's great to see feedback on such a high-priced product. We were seriously considering the Dux. We fell for all of the 'Tempur-P' hype. We actually went back to the store about two weeks after we got the bed, to say - come pick it up. The store manager convinced us, 'It will get more comfortable as you break it in and it becomes softer." Three years later, it is sagging. What a SHOCK I discovered some time ago, when I removed the cover for laundering. Our bed does NOT look like the cut-out model in the mattress store. One other thing, the Tempur mattress is VERY heavy! The weight makes it nearly impossible for one person to change the bed skirt and to move the bed around in the room. It's pretty sad, when you pay thousands of dollars for a bed and it is not good for sleeping.

After hearing numerous testimonials on the radio, specifically from talk show host Dennis Prager, my wife and I spent $10,000.00+ on a Cal-King Dux Bed. At the time, around 1999, the advertising for the Duxiana line touted that the beds were so well made, that they would "last for generations," and how, in Sweden, they were often "left to love ones" in people's wills. NEVER during that period did the ads ever mention that the top pad would only last six to eight years, before becoming all lumpy and broken down. NEVER were we told by the sales staff in the Duxiana store that the top pad would need replacement someday. ALL we ever heard, is that the bed would "last a lifetime." Well, fast forward to the present and all of a sudden Dux is running radio ads and Dennis Prager is talking about replacing the top pad on your Dux Bed. The huge problem with this, is that the top pad is around TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! You can buy many, COMPLETE, LUXURY beds for less than that. I feel that we were misled by Duxiana and by Dennis Prager and I am seriously considering a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against the company. We were never told that such expensive "upkeep" was required with this bed and I feel that Duxiana is guilty of UNETHICAL and misleading advertising. I think that Duxiana should replace the top pads, free of charge, to those of us who purchased our beds during the period when Dux was HIDING THE TRUTH about the longevity of their products. Does anyone else out there feel as I do?

Anonymous said...

I agree 100% with A.B. Boyd!!!
He took the words right out of my mouth. I would also consider action against Prager and Duxiana. The Top Pad is the biggest scam running. We would never ever ever have purchased the bed knowing how quickly it breaks down. Adding insult to injury 3 years ago we decided to bite the bullet and by a new topper as ours was in terrible shape and causing my terrible pain. We called to place the order, choked on the price and were then told they were sold out for the next few months! So what the he'll was I supposed to sleep on. We bought a temp pad that lasted 3 years for $200. When it broke down last month, we tried again, only to find the price was $2,000 and they had none in stock until "sometime in August". And they don't care. No manger has called me to discuss, even though I was promised a call last week. I would never buy this bed again and hope those considering look elsewhere. I am going to a foam store to see if they can provide a latex pad for considerably lower cost. Has anyone tried that?

Anonymous said...

Thanks for all the comments, we were looking at buying a Duxiana Mattress but with even one negative feedback (Considering the price of the mattress) it simply isnt worth the money...we will look elsewhere.

My husband and I were also considering the Dux bed but we passed b/c somethings are just not worth the money! We bought a brand called "My Side" at Sleepy's. It is the Sleepy's high end mattress and cost ~$3,000. It is amazing! Soft, supportive, and luxurious.

We do recommend buying bedding at Duxiana. The quality of the sheets are amazing. So soft! They are expensive but the same price as other compete Frette/Yves Delorme/Sferra brands. Save the money on the mattress and spring for the sheets!

To the poster looking for a less expensive topper for the Dux bed go to Dixie Foam on 25th street in NYC. I can vouch for the quality and comfort of their Latex or Carbomate (or combo) products. I have a Dux bed at present but long for the comfort and support I had with my Carbomate mattress for 17 years at one tenth the price. It is a one man shop and his customer service is admirable even going beyond what you would expect, you can trust his word for sure (honesty and integrity still prevails).
If not near NYC they have a website.

We've had a Duxiana bed for about 15 years and it is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. It takes a week or so to get used to it and then you will fall in love. My husband weighs twice what I do and it is comfortable for him as well. We have never replaced the top pad. Whenever we are away for a few nights we both sigh with happiness when we return to our bed. It is the best ever and was the key to curing my neck pain and my husband's lower back pain. Worth ever penny. I plan on buying our son one when he marries.

We purchased a sealy mattress from mattress one it is the worst ever. I can not sleep I move and walk in pain it is 3 inches gully on each side where we sleep and mattress one and sealys warranty is giving me problems. Does anyone recommend a good mattress out there?

Anonymous said...

I have serious back trouble, and finding a good bed was almost impossible ( no luck with the sleep number, and the tempurpedic actually was instrumental in herniating a disc ), and then we found the Duxiana. We bought the 2nd one up in quality ( with the 6 adjustable cartridges ) and were lucky to get it on sale. It has been a God send for me. We do have to open up the cartridge section every month and move them about, and rotate the foam mattress as well, but doing so keeps the bed in top condition, and my back too. We realize how expensive it is, but not as expensive as the epidurals I was getting every month. I had given up on sleeping through the night. Maybe they aren't for everyone, but without mine, I would be in agony all day every day.
And of course Your Milage May Vary.

Looks lIke I'm going to not buy a Dux... Lol

I do like my Dux so far. Have been sleeping on it for 13 months. I will look into a different replacement top pad though when the time comes as I don't think I will be able to afford $2,000 and up in 9 (or less) years. It would have been nice if they would have talked about that more when selling the bed to us.

I agree with the above comment about the price of the top pad being ridiculously expensive. At $1500, the top pad is the same price as some premium beds. Also, you are not getting "quality" comparable to the price. The top pad is made from natural latex (you could get a cotton pad too - with its own set of problems). Though it is said to be hypoallergenic, latex is a common material and it is not expensive. Furthermore, latex, being a rubber-based product, does not have great longevity. It immediately starts turning yellow and then it eventually turns brown. Latex breaks down and disintegrates. My top pad is in shambles. Having to purchase a new topper every few years is a big problem for me. I have had my Duxiana mattress for 10 years and I probably would not buy another one. It is too expensive and the quality, though good, does not match the price. I sense that this review here is a set-up by Duxiana.

Cathy said...

Hi Anonymous,

I can assure you this review is not set-up by Duxiana. If it were, I wouldn't approve your comment and let all visitors to read it.

And if you check out other reviews and comments on this website, you'll see both positive and negative reviews. And don't forget that we don't sell anything here, therefore, we don't have any reason to say "Buy this" or "This is better than that".

And when it comes to latex, it's one of the most durable materials to be used in mattresses (research based on user experience).

After hearing about the DUX Bed for years, I decided to invest in the 818, which is one of the new DUX Bed models. I had kept my previous mattress for 17 years, and while it was OK, I noticed that my back pain was increasingly worse. I suffer from sciatica on my right side beginning in my hip and running down my leg and was sure nothing could help. So I decided to try the DUX Bed. This bed doesn't compress the sciatica, and puts no pressure on my leg. I couldn't believe the difference the first night I slept on the DUX. It cradles your body, without being too hard or too soft. It also has an adjustable lumbar support that gives your back some additional support if you need it. Thanks to the DUX Bed, my sciatica is now better (coupled with some exercises from the physical therapist) The 818 includes a top pad, pascal personal comfort system, lumbar support, and of course, the DUX spring system. It also has a safety compartment on each side. Everything is well made and I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it. The extra money that you pay for a DUX is definitely worth it.

I wanted to let everyone know that the 10% off offer, mentioned in this blog, worked! I emailed them and ended up going to the store where I got the discount on a new top pad. I thought I would pass along my Dux bed story since they were so accommodating.

I originally heard about Dux Beds through a coworker, after relaying the story that my wife and I we were waking up with back pain. We had our bed for 10+ years and knew it was time to purchase a new bed so we decided to drop by and take a look at the Dux beds at their Newport Beach store. The salespeople were very helpful, and let us try out each of the different bed models. Once we laid down on the beds in the store we immediately noticed the difference between the one we were on, and the one at home. It didn’t take long to know that we were going to buy one.

We ended up getting the DUX Bed with the Pascal system plus top pad and have loved it since day one. One thing that was said in the review on this site, and we were told by our Duxiana sales rep, was to rotate and flip the top pad so that it would last longer. We have been doing that every couple months and it still seems as good as new.

We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a luxury bed.
