Sealy Posturepedic Review

Sealy is a well known brand and is in a mattress business longer then most other manufacturers. There are numerous Sealy reviews online and most of them are giving good ratings to their products. General opinion of the customer is that they have quality, but a bit overpriced. Let us see where Sealy Posturepedic belongs in this review.

Lets clear one thing first, Posturepedic is a line of products, not a specific model. The main feature of this line is that every bed within it has a Comfort System: advanced inner springs, Comfort materials, IniCased Edge and orthopedical support. I know that this doesn't sound to clear, but it is important to know that these are all new techniques and new approaches in mattress manufacturing.

The thing is, there are many companies who claim to have the best springs in the market. But the truth is, most of them are buying springs from the same supplier. Now it is clear that the springs don't have anything with the quality, since everybody is using the same thing. It is the technique they are using while manufacturing them. And this is where good companies get ahead. They place more coils in the middle of the mattress and in the shoulder area. This is what Posturepedic has, and that is what makes him a good bed.

UniCased Edge means extra coils at the edge of the bed, which is a better support, since you won't push the mattress sideways anymore. This is a regular thing in high quality mattresses. It seems unnecessary to mention it, but at the other hand it should be mentioned. This is how you separate good from the bad. And it is also the way to say your product has a value to the customer.

One interesting thing with Sealy Posturepedic is that the company says you need to buy a box spring. They claim it will act as a shock absorber so you will get more comfort during sleep. I'll say it straight to you - do not fall for this. This is a marketing ploy to get your money into their pockets. You do not need any box springs, ever. You can put the mattress on bare floor and sleep perfectly well. Just do some research, you will see that there isn't any country in the world that is using them, except US. Be smart, do not buy box spring. It doesn't give you any more support and comfort.

When it comes to models Posturepedic line offers, there are 3 basic models. One is Posturepedic, other is Body Series and third is Reserve Collection. Body Series is a bit more luxurious version, while Reserve Collection has a memory foam topper.

These mattresses have quality, that is not something to argue about. But at what level? It is not easy to say, since it depends on your preferences. But when compared to other big brands, these are just as good as any of them. The negative side is that they are a bit expensive, but that is what you get for durability and guarantee. I personally feel it is worth to invest in them, since you know what you are getting here.

Just browse online and find some personal experiences from the people who used them. You will see some positive reviews. And be careful with some of them, there will be people who will trash the company because they themselves bought a wrong mattress for their needs. They want firm, but buy soft, then it's the company who is responsible. Read through several different Sealy Posturepedic reviews to get the real truth about these mattresses.

My Sealy Posturepedic that we bought from Mattress Giant has been terrible! We have had three replaced under warranty in the last 4 years. Sealy's customer service has given us the runaround and will not allow us to reselect from another brand. Mattress Giant's customer service has been decent but Sealy has been awful. DON'T BUY SEALY!

I wished i had read the information
that all you good people had posted
before i to brought a Sealy bed. My
Grandmother and Grandfather brought
a good Sealy bed many years ago and
it lasted them for a very long time.
With this information i to saved a
lot of money and brought this year
2009 a sealy Posturepedic mattress
and the sealy Bonanza bed base. Three
days after having this bed delivered
it was a single bed, when i got up
in the morning to rise out of bed
i heard a cracking sound, Horror
was it had nearly broke in half the
bed base. My father who is a carpenter, said it was not well made at all the wood not good he
also said some one of a certain
weight would not last a day in this
bed, it needs support legs in the
middle which it never had and plastic legs are no good, The assistant in the shop was not good,
and i will not be bothering Sealy,
as they will never have me as a
customer again, Years ago they used
to make good long lasting beds but
not any more!

Thanks for the great information in regards to Sealy mattress's. We just bought one from Mattress Firm, hope they are as easy to work with as Mattress Giant, as we are going to have to return the one that we bought 2 weeks ago. It's also a Posturepedic in the Natural Orgins line and suppose to be the best quality out there, at least made by Sealy. It's so soft and felt great in the store, but I can hardly get out of bed as it feels a lot softer now that we are sleeping on it. Not sure what to get at this point. This is worse than buying a car and we've been at it off and on for over 8 months before we actually bought one. This is the second Sealy, the first being the Springfree latex bed that turned out to be much more firm than the one in the store. Sealy informed us that it was impossible to regulate how a latex bed was going to turn out, in reference to firmness, etc.

So, not sure what we are going to get, but hope that this third one will give us some restful sleep, as my back hurts enough during the day, then to have to deal with not getting a good night sleep.

HELP, is about all that I can say anymore, when it comes to knowing what mattress is going to work anymore.

As someone who has sold Sealy beds at 4 different retail stores (and owns one as my own bed) I just have to point out two really HUGE flaws in this review.
First being, the Unicased and Unicased XT has nothing to do with the coils in the bed, this has been confused by the writer with Simmons brand. The Unicased edge is actually a foam encasement around the entire edge of the bed, sides, top and bottom. It is also found underneath the mattress for additional support.
Second, while a boxsprings is not needed if you are going to sleep on the floor or on a platform bed, it ABSOLUTELY needed if you are putting the bed onto a standard headboard/footboard bed, or onto a simple metal frame. The reason being, if you do not fully support the base of ANY mattress it will sag and breakdown quickly. The second being, the Posturepedic coil is a coil that should not be bent, it loses a lot of its ability to function when the coil system is bent or warped.
Also, many furniture companies carry Sealy mattresses, but I would caution anyone who is purchasing to make sure it is a Sealy Posturepedic before purchasing. There is quite a difference in the coil systems of the two.
I also wanted to comment about 'Anonymous' issue with the beds.
I can see that the sales person you worked with was not helpful to you as he sold you a product that really has nothing to do with Sealy and told you that it did. The base you purchased from him/her... well, you were misinformed. I am sorry because Sealy is a much better brand than most of the beds I have sold (and continue to sell).
Also, as far as buying from Mattress Giant, well not to be biased but if you were to look up reviews on most of the beds from there you would see that most the time... yeah, they get BAD reviews. Their salespeople are very good at hookwinking people into what they want them to buy... and they don't always have the best selection of 'real' posturepedics. My recommendation, buy from a furniture retailer who has mattress specialists and ask LOTS of questions.
I will tell you first hand, I have seen the inside or LOTS of brands, and I replaced my Simmons with a Sealy after seeing what they really look like.
Hope it helps!

I also wanted to comment about Lisa's issue with the Latex... latex is my personal favorite foam bedding, and while it can be tricky it is a very good choice for support and long lasting material bedding.
I feel bad for everyone on here who has obviously never had a good salesperson who actually trys to find the mattress for you but instead sells you on something.
Latex is a great fit if you have any back, neck or hip issues or pain. It does take a long time of working with it to learn the 'tricks' of latex.
Linda, I hope that this late comment finds you on a mattress and very happy with it, but if this helps even one other person I will be happy.
Latex is tricky in that there is a very strong pressback, its what makes the mattress so durable and supportive. But, it can make you sore if you don't pick the right bed. The trick is this, unless you are lucky enough to live close to a store that allows you to have a private room for 3 hours to sleep on the matt or your choice, you probably are only spending about 6-20 minutes on a mattress in the store. Its not enough to choose a latex bed!!! There is a trick to help you though...
If you sleep on a firm mattress now, and I mean FIRM then you can choose a firm latex and still be comfy.
But, if you sleep on a plush, an ultra plush or a pillowtop mattress you NEED a pillowtop latex. So, pick the most comfy in the store to you, and if its a tight top, move up ONE bed to a pillowtop and you will be VERY happy with the selection. It works EVERY SINGLE TIME!

I own/operate a sleep shop in the Midwest and I must tell you that a poor salesman can make all the difference in the world when buying a mattress. I have carried numerous brands over the years and Sealy is the absolute best. I get the fewest complaints (by far) on the Sealy brand.
Being a store owner I obviously can sleep on any mattress I choose and I have chosen the best; Latex! My wife and I have had back surgery over the last 10 years and latex is easily the best choice for a bad back. A good quality latex mattress will last considerably longer than an innerspring mattress as well. You must have a knowledgeable salesperson to help you make the right choice however! Good luck and stop by www.perrysburgmattress.com for additional help.
